The Responsibility of Greatness – Garage Strength

The Responsibility of Greatness

I was 15 years old when I started working. I got a job at Redner's Warehouse Markets as a cashier making $8.25 per hour. At 16 I bought my first car, and then at 17 started training at Garage Strength. I wanted to take my football career more seriously and knew I needed to start working out. My parents weren’t going to help me with payment, but I was determined to take my athletic ability to the next level.

So, at $8.25 an hour I worked an 8-hour shift every Sunday throughout the entire year. That meant before taxes I made about $264 per month, after taxes about $227 per month. When I first started training at Garage Strength it was $400 for a 12-month membership fee plus $30 each week to train as often as you wanted. I saved up, paid the fee and continued to work so I could pay each week. During the summer I would work more hours to be able to afford my car insurance, gas and whatever else my 17 year old self needed.

At this point you’re probably wondering where I am going with this. Well, let's fast forward to present day at Garage Strength, and breakdown the pricing for unlimited training.

its $160 ($144) for a month, $140 per month with a 6-month contract, and $120 per month with a year contract.

Say your working 8 hours per week at the current minimum wage, that is about $58 per shift. Which means in one month you would make $232, around $199 after taxes. As a high school student, $199 could pay for a month of training at Garage Strength, gas for your car and car insurance depending on which contract you chose. All of that paid for, just by working 8 hours per week. Does it suck? Yes. But if you want to be great you

will find a way to make it happen.

So when people say Garage Strength is too expensive, do I believe them? No, I don't. I've been through it already. I've worked since I was 15 years old and paid for myself. I would even give Dane extra money at the end of summer to show how much I appreciated him for working with me.

Stop making excuses. Find a way to better yourself. Find a way to Cultivate Your Power.
