I have to admit this is not really a health food or a traditional food or even good for you at all. But this recipe is a super simple treat for the holidays (or anytime!) Chocolate syrup is made with 3-4 simple ingredients. It tastes at least as good as Hershey's and it contains no HFCS!
1 cup cane sugar
1 cup water
1-2 cinnamon sticks
3/4 cup good quality cocoa
1 pinch salt
Dissolve sugar in water at medium to low heat. Add cinnamon sticks and allow to seep into the sugar/water solution for about 5 minutes. Whisk in cocoa powder. Mixture can be turned back in low if necessary, but watch carefully and stir constantly so the chocolate does not burn. Allow to cool completely and store in the fridge. Mix with milk or top your ice cream, coffee or fresh fruit!
Try making this as a gift for friends and family!
