Recently, I have been on a lazy man’s training program. Since my retirement from throwing, I have wondered aimlessly around the weight room. For a while I was just focusing on my Olympic weightlifting, but my arthritic elbow (caused by shot putting and lyme disease) continued to haunt me.
I ran my first ultramarathon on Sunday, October 5 over at Blue Marsh Lake, about 5 minutes from my dad’s house, the house I grew up in, outside Reading. The ‘Blues Cruise Ultra 50K’ put on by the Pagoda Pacers Athletic Club.
