Heroin Addictions

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Ok, this doesn’t have too much to do with training, instead it is something that blows my mind.  The NY Times published an article dealing with heroin addictions and the best treatment….according to the study the best treatment for heroin addiction is, you got it….heroin!!!

WTF!!?!?!?!?! Are you serious?  Not sure heroin is the best thing to fix for a heroin addict.  Does nutrition and exercise ever come into play?  Of course not, no one would consider utilizing whole nutrition as a therapeutic method of healing…ketosis would be a tremendous thing to use for heroin addicts.  Apparently heroin and methadone continue to be the cure for heroin addiction which then creates further heroin and methadone addiction.

I am a firm believer in providing your body with complete nourishment…meaning ample amounts of vitamins, minerals, fats, proteins, carbs and enzymes…this is the best medicine for the body and mind.

2009 Track and Field World Champs

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Over the past week, the 2009 World Champs have been taking place in Berlin, Germany.  There have been numerous incredible performances, including Usain Bolt’s blazing and absurd time of 9.58 in the 100 meters.  That is incredible.

In the discus, Robert Harting of Germany came back to win the event on his final throw.  He placed 2nd in the 2007 World Championships and then came out this year blazing.  Harting set a personal record on his final throw to take the gold.  What a great way to win, on your final throw, with a personal best, in front of your home country!!!  Anyway, here is the video of Harting’s awesome competition.

I am fully committed to providing my clients with the absolute best product, be it food, milk, training, nutrition plans, etc…In doing so, I am extremely excited to announce that I have created a Garage Strength Food Co-op.  This food co-op will entail: raw milk, grass fed beef and lamb, pasture raised pork, pasture raised chickens, eggs and a buyers club with Mountain Rose Herbs.

I am announcing this today because the farm that will be providing Garage Strength with eggs, pork, chickens and some beef is Chestnut Hollow Farm at North Mountain Pastures.  The North Mountain Pastures website has just launched today so check it out at this link: North Mountain Pastures.  I am proud to announce this partnership because the meat that will be provided is the absolute, highest quality meat that can be found on the market and it will be provided for a reasonable price!!!  I am also happy to say that my brother, Brooks Miller, is a farmer at Chestnut Hollow and will be coordinating the very efficient farming system.

If anyone wants to place orders, feel free to email me and I will be creating a Co-Op tab on my website that also utilizes PayPal for food orders.  Thanks again!!!

Eating Hazelnuts

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Apparently, hazelnuts were a staple to survival back in the times of hunting and gathering, according to this uncovered archeological site.  The Stone Age house was found on the Isle of Man with loads of hazelnut shells found surrounding the home.  I can only suspect that much of the ancient survival methods were based around nuts that provided loads of energy throughout the sparse winter months and ocean faring food (fish, shellfish, etc.).

Finding these homes provides a unique perspective into ancient times.  Generally, ancient tribes and people consumed foods that were loaded with nutrition and energy and provided large amounts of vitamins and minerals to sustain a healthy life.  The sad part now is that many nuts imported into the US are being irradiated, destroying their precious vitamins, minerals, fats, protein and carbs (in the case of chestnuts).

Anyway, try and find nuts that grow in your local area and eat them fresh off the tree.  This is a great way to get loads of nutrients.
