Long Time!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

It has been quite a while since I blogged.  I have been transitioning into the full time Garage Strength employee.  The past 2 weeks has been intense but very fulfilling.  I have been setting up my “office,”  rearranging my books, programs, paper work, etc to keep things more orderly for my Garage Strength maintenance.  I have also rearranged the Garage and added in 3 pull up stations, each station has its own size bar.  One is a 1″ bar, the other is 1.5″ and the third is 2″.  See pictures below. I will be setting up my computer in my office for regular blogs after the Holiday season.  In the meantime, Merry Christmas!!!

This is the first step for the pull up station.

A “Health” Article on MSN

Friday, December 11th, 2009

A frequent reader of my blog sent me an article yesterday. I could not believe my eyes when I read it.  The title of the article is: “What pain relievers are safe with alcohol?”  I guess it makes sense to run an article like this during the holidays because people like to sit down and have a drink but seriously?!?!?!?  I suppose my issue isn’t with the article itself but instead with our society right now…we are so medicated and take such poor care of our bodies that individuals are on pain relievers on a daily basis.  If we started focusing on quality nutrition and optimal fitness levels, perhaps we would not be as medicated with pain relievers and our body could handle a bit of alcohol here and there for celebration.

Anyway, today is my final day at my day job.  I am ecstatic and nervous at the same time.  Hope to see some of you in training soon!

New Garage Strength Success!

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I have put up a new image of a Garage Strength client who has lost nearly 100 pounds.  This client (Lu) in particular has trained hard and followed my dietary recommendations to a T!!!  I am very happy for him and certain he will continue progressing, even after he reaches his initial target weight/health.

The important thing that Lu has learned is that weight loss is not the end all be all. Instead, it is the recovery of health and the generation of an entirely new lifestyle.  Far too often, we get caught up in numbers on the scale.  The important part is being/feeling healthy, having more energy and improving the daily life, both mentally and physically.  If we approach training and dietary practices as a crucial part of survival, we will live a more sustainable and fulfilling life.  Remember, physiology takes no time off!!!

Final Week of Work

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I apologize for having nothing worthwhile on my blog.  This week is my final week at my day job.  Needless to say, I am busy doing a few things that I need to take care of before I wonder into the world of 24/7 Garage Strength!!! Anyway, I am ecstatic to be 100% committed to Garage Strength in the very near future.  In the mean time, I will entertain everyone with a cool picture of Martin Bingisser (check out Martin’s blog), a Swiss hammer thrower who was a 2 time All-American at University of Washington sporting some GS wear.

Edit to my Cod Liver Oil

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Over the past month I have decided to try a different cod liver oil. Dr. Stephan Guyenet recommended I try the fermented Radiant Life Cod Liver oil. I bought the cinnamon flavored oil and now I am hooked!!! The cinnamon flavor is very robust and the oil is tremendous. The cost is a bit more but I also take significantly less of it and the oil has now surpassed my Carlson’s cod liver oil in duration of bottle usage.

I highly recommend it because it is a bit higher in vitamins and the fats in the fermented CLO are not heated or potentially oxidized whatsoever. I believe Radiant Life utilizes a cleaner/more efficient processing system. Give it a try and see if you notice a difference in your joints, immune system and overall feeling.
